Citizen Science Projects
Contribute to Community-Driven Science Initiatives
Since the Lagoon Society formed in 2002 we have been involved in, and helped to initiate, many citizen science projects on the Sunshine Coast. We have partnered with organizations from around the Salish Sea to create programs where community members can participate in scientific research in their own backyards. Here are just some of the projects that you can participate in by becoming a volunteer for the Lagoon Society:
- Data collection for research on invasive species
- Marine sampling in the Salish Sea with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to monitor water quality
- Participating in the Christmas Bird Count
If any of the above interest you, we're looking for more inspired people like you! In order to express interest, please fill out our Become a Volunteer Form online and let us know. We will be in touch with exciting upcoming opportunities! If you are a member of an organization that would like to partner with us on citizen science in the Sunshine Coast region, please don't hesitate to contact us at .
